We are so excited to announce that our OISTPP coordinators, Suzan and Greg Bell, were nominated for and selected as Brunswick County recipients for the 2024 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award.  On May 6th, they attended the ceremony at the Odell Williamson Auditorium. Suzan and Greg have volunteered with our program for the past 23 years. This is their 4th season as coordinators/permit holders for our program. We appreciate their efforts in making sure the mission of our program, the conservation, education, and protection of our threatened and endangered sea turtles is a top priority. Their commitment to following the guidelines and protocols of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is demonstrated in the success of 353 sea turtle nests and 27,886 emerged hatchlings making their way to the ocean from the 2021-2023 seasons. We cannot thank them enough for their continued support, guidance, and commitment to the over 200 program volunteers, the 25,000-30,000+ visitors we see each year, and for the love and passion they have for our beloved sea turtles.
